While MyTaskList might not quite offer anything that makes it a revolutionary task management app, it’ll still be pretty useful for those wanting to organize their life; especially across multiple devices.
Efficiently laid out, you can create your own separate lists before adding tasks that are relevant for each. For instance, I created a list full of household chores to place alongside a list of work-based activities. Once a list has been created, you dive into it to add specific tasks. These tasks are pretty unrestricted with you able to enter anything you want, as well as notes, assign a priority to them, a reminder as to when it needs to be done, plus location details.
From then onwards you can then easily check out what tasks are due today, this week, or that are overdue for completion. It’s rarely the most stunning of layouts, but it works, which is mostly what counts when checking out what you need to be doing next. You can also hide lists via a PIN code entry, meaning you’re fine to store all those gift buying ideas you were hoping that no one would spot.
More power comes from the things that go on in the background. Location-based reminders are always handy, and this app has them. MyTaskList will sync up with the Reminders app, which can be useful as well. It’ll also update when the app isn’t open, which works well in conjunction with the iCloud support that means you can also use MyTaskList through the Mac.
MyTaskList might not have the ‘wow’ factor of being anything truly magical, but it does what it needs to do and it does so efficiently. For $0.99, it offers sufficient features to be well worth the asking price.
