Nova Launcher

Android and iOS are two fundamentally different mobile operating systems and one of the most obvious differences between them is openness and customization. Android allows its users to personalize the device and the platform according to their preferences while iOS doesn’t. Users can customize their Android devices with launchers which are quite similar to themes but usually themes only deal with the visual aspect while launchers may add functionality too.

Nova Launcher is one of the most popular launchers available for Android devices and it is compatible with all Android devices running Android 2.3 and above. The best thing about Nova Launcher is its functionality; there are lots of visual related features where users can implement animations and other visual aspects to make their device beautiful and appealing or they can turn off those features to increase the performance.

There are two versions of Nova Launcher available on Google Play Store: the paid version unlocks some advance features but you can use the free version without any issue. Swipe action is a well known feature of Nova Launcher; this feature allows users to launch apps and shortcuts when the user swipe on an app. Another similar feature is swipe on home screen.

This feature allows users to set different gestures like swipe up, swipe down, double tap, double swipe up (swipe with two fingers), double swipe down, pinch in and pinch out with shortcuts, actions and even apps. For example, you can set double tap with lock device and whenever you double tap on the home screen, the device would lock.
