After catching the first Pokémon, you need to find more by going out and navigating here and there. Of course you need to turn on the GPS on your phone so it can show your exact geographical location on the map. The map is like a cartoon version of Google Maps with some interesting characteristics. The map shows surroundings and nearby Pokémon as leaves. An indicator on the bottom of the screen shows your proximity to those Pokémon so you can go for the nearest one. A grey Pokémon means it is a new one and you don’t that one in your collection. The game is thoroughly designed to show different Pokémon in different areas. For example, you’d see water Pokémon near the lakes and water while other Pokémon would appear near the towns.
The game would award for 100 XP points and 100 stardust points for each Pokémon you catch, unless if you are catching it for the first time. In that case, you’d be given an extra 500 XP points. To power up or evolve a Pokémon, you need candies. These candies are collected by catching Pokémon; however different Pokémon gives different number of candies.
There are mainly three ways to earn stardust points; you can catch Pokémon and get 100 points, you can leave your Pokémon in gym for a day and you would get 500 points or you can hatch eggs for extra stardust points. Similarly, you can also earn coins by leaving your Pokémon in gym for a day. Among all, coins are the hardest to get by. You can also get coins easily via IAPs.
In order to hatch an egg, you need incubator. There are many ways to get your hands on an incubator. You can either get them by leveling up or you can buy them in shop via IAPs. To hatch an egg, you need to cover some distance. The more distance you cover, the powerful Pokémon it would return. The distance is tracked by GPS.
